About Reiki

Ready to learn a little more about Reiki? Well you've come to the right place. Let's get started!

Reiki is a soothing and relaxing form of energy body work that helps restore proper energy flow through the subtle body. Reiki works in a similar way to acupuncture and acupressure. Like those healing modalities, Reiki stimulates the flow of energy within the body's energy meridians, as well as in the major energy centers, called chakras. Through this process, energetic blockages are broken down and cleared, thereby restoring the natural flow of energy. In this state, the body is better placed to benefit from its own inherent healing abilities. This promotes and supports the health and well-being of not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well.

 

Reiki is often used as a stress management technique because of its calming effects. I think we can all agree that a good deal of common complaints can be attributed to the amount of stress in our lives. Stress causes muscle aches, headaches, digestive issues, ulcers, skin rashes, etc. Stress depletes our energy, and causes its flow to become sluggish or stagnant. symptoms, thereby restoring a sense of balance and well-being. But it doesn't end there. 

 

Reiki can calm the mind and help you feel more grounded and focused. It enhances your ability to release stored negative emotions. It also soothes and feeds the spirit. When the spirit is at ease, the way forward seems much clearer. Reiki also works well in conjunction with conventional medical treatments and therapies, and can help accelerate and enhance the healing process. 

Mind you, I'm not just spouting words out of a text book. That's not me. Everything I've written here about Reiki comes from firsthand experience and is the sum of what I've witnessed in my years of practicing Reiki. 

All that being said, let me tell you what Reiki isn't: Reiki is not a medical treatment nor should it be substituted for the medical treatment of illness, injury or disease. You'll notice this disclaimer is on every page of this site and it's not simply for the usual CYA reasons. It's because I have to keep it real. This is a very important facet of sharing Reiki responsibly and I would be remiss in my obligations to you to not make this point abundantly clear. 

There's a wealth of information available about Reiki and I encourage you to investigate different sources. I can only share my own thoughts and experiences but I'm well aware that both of these vary from one practitioner to another. Get as many different perspectives as possible so you can make the most informed decision on how to reach your personal wellness goals.
